| The
Catalyst is a quarterly newsletter which has been a leader
in the field since its beginning in 1981. When we began publishing,
computer use for people with special needs was still more visionary
than practical. Since then we've reported on both the increasing
sophistication of technology and the increasing complexity of special
education.
We've covered the profound changes in the lives of children and
adults with special needs as they have benefitted from technology,
as well as on the obstacles confronting them and those who serve
them.
Our writers are highly qualified
to examine the field from many points of view. We hear regularly
from classroom teachers, special education directors, education
professors, communication disorders specialists and speech/language
therapists, parents, and computer users themselves.
Each issue includes features on new software, classroom tips, and
special education issues. The Catalyst
is written in lively, informative style that provides good reading
as well as valuable information.
